MORE FORMULAE FOR HIGHER PAPER GCSE

You need to know how:

  1. to work out angles using sine and cosine rule
  2. Area of sectors and length of sectors
  3. The surface area of a cylinder.
Formulae:
Depending on the question use these re-arranged formulae to find the answer:

Sine rule angle = a/SinA = b/SinB= c/SinC

Cosine rule angle = CosA =  Ab^2 + c^2 - a^2 / 2bc

surface area of cylinder = 2 Pi R(radius) H(height) x 2 Pi R^2

Area of sector = angle/360 x Pi R^2

Length of Arc = angle/360 x 2 x Pi x R

Area of segment = Area of sector - Area of triangle
